Self-Contained Vehicle Certification Privacy Notice

When you apply for or receive a self-contained vehicle inspection or certification, we collect information needed to assess the vehicle, administer certification and meet our obligations as a certification authority.
Information we may collect
- your name and contact details;
- vehicle identification and registration details;
- inspection and certification records;
- photos, videos, measurements, notes and other evidence relevant to the inspection;
- communications about the inspection, certification, complaints or reviews.
How we use it
We use this information to arrange and complete inspections, verify compliance, make and document certification decisions, issue certificates and warrant cards, maintain required records, update the Self-Contained Vehicle Register, respond to enquiries or complaints, and meet audit or regulatory requirements.
Who we may share it with
Information may be provided to the Plumbers, Gasfitters and Drainlayers Board and to service providers or authorised people who support the inspection and certification process, where this is necessary and lawful. We do not use self-contained vehicle certification information for unrelated purposes.
Storage and retention
Records are stored in secure business systems, including OneDrive/SharePoint and the Self-Contained Vehicle Register where applicable. Access is limited to people who need the information for their role. Records are retained for the period required for certification, regulatory and business record-keeping purposes.
Your rights
You may ask to access or correct personal information we hold about you. Contact connect@kiwiselfcontained.co.nz. You can also contact us at that address if you have a privacy concern. You may make a complaint to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner if you are not satisfied with how a privacy matter has been handled.
