Start with the symptom. Empty wastewater only at an appropriate disposal facility, and stop using a leaking system until the cause is fixed.
If the sink or van smells
Begin with basic cleaning: remove food debris from the sink outlet and clean the tank using a product and method suitable for its materials. Follow the tank and cleaner instructions. Never mix cleaning chemicals.
- Check the odour-control trap or arrangement fitted to your system.
- Check that vent hose is connected, unobstructed and routed as designed.
- Check seals around the tank fittings and caps.
If a vent terminates inside the van or the odour keeps returning, ask your installer or inspector to check the system. Opening a window does not fix faulty tank ventilation.
If the sink drains slowly
- Check the waste tank is not full.
- Remove visible debris from the sink outlet.
- Inspect the drain hose for kinks, sagging sections or compression.
- Check the tank’s vent is clear, using the system instructions.
- Check any valve that needs to be open during operation is in its correct position.
Do not force pressure into the tank or enlarge holes to solve a drainage problem. Check hose routing and fitting compatibility first. Some restrictions need an installer’s assessment.
If a fitting or hose leaks
Stop the water flow, empty the affected tank safely and dry the area so you can locate the source. Check whether the leak is from a hose joint, thread, seal or cracked component.
- Check hose size and support; avoid pulling the hose sideways against fittings.
- Inspect seals and connections for damage or incorrect assembly.
- Use sealant or thread tape only where suitable for that joint and material.
- Do not overtighten plastic fittings.
Replace damaged parts. Let any sealant cure as directed, then leak-test before putting the system back into service.
If your removable tank is hard to disconnect
Check the valve and quick-release connection sequence in your installation instructions. Empty the tank at the appropriate disposal point and avoid disconnecting a full line inside the van.
Inspect Camlock seals, couplers and caps. Keep fittings clean and ensure hoses have enough supported movement to connect without strain. Secure the tank again before travelling.
Find the right guide or replacement
For our system, read how to set up the 25mm removable grey-water system. Browse grey-water kits or individual plumbing parts.
Measure the existing connections and send us clear photos if you need help choosing a replacement. A “25mm” product label does not mean every hose, thread or hole is interchangeable.
